Sod Uses And Varieties FAQs

Our dedicated fleet of trucks can deliver anywhere across the state of Alabama and the surrounding Southeast region.

At South Dallas Turf Farm Inc., we only supply the grass and do not offer installation services. However, our exceptional customer service team would be more than happy to refer you to someone who can!

The sod should be planted immediately following delivery, especially during extreme heat. Before having the sod delivered, you should have an installation service planned. Our customer service team can refer you to trusted installation providers if you don’t have one lined up already.

Prep the soil properly by removing large rocks and clusters of weeds and raking the area smoothly. If you plan to install an in-ground sprinkler system, it is essential to establish and ensure that it’s working correctly before putting the sod down.

Each pallet of high-quality turf that South Dallas Turf Farm Inc. delivers is 450 sq. ft. or 50 yards.

Our pallets vary in weight depending on how moist the soil is, but typically they weigh between 2000 lbs to 2200 lbs.

To determine the square footage of sod you require for your project, you simply measure your property length and multiply it by its width.

An example of this formula:
length X width = square foot.
(e.g. 50 feet long by 20 feet wide = 1,000 sq. ft.)

Sod can be planted effectively in most conditions, but some seasons are better than others. Spring and Fall offer optimal conditions due to cooler temperatures and more moisture in the air.

Sod is easy to cut and can be shaped to fit any area. You can cut your sod with anything sharp such as a razor blade or even the end of the shovel.
